Post subject: Getting to know you ... 2008 ! PostPosted: Wed Jan 2, '08, 11:14 pm

Let's begin this thread over again with the New Year. :)

As before in the older thread, we will ask a question of a slightly personal nature and everyone who wishes to can respond, or not respond. It's as simple as that, and one way we can all "get to know" each other a little better.

So, here's the first question of 2008:

Are you happy, or unhappy, with your real first name? Do you prefer that name or wish you had been named something else?

Note: You don't have to say what your real name is - just if you like it or if you don't like it. Okay.

As for me, I did not like my real name at all when I was younger. It was an unusual name and I was the only person I knew with that name. It was kind of odd, I thought. I guess maybe a little embarrassing too in the fact that I was the only one with that name - atleast that's how it felt to me as a younger person.

As I have gotten a bit older, I now realize there are quite a few people with the same first name around and it is not that rare at all. And, it is beautiful in it's own way, I suppose. I was named after an entertainer whom my parents liked very much. I guess you could say I've come to terms with it, lol.

I've always liked my name. It was unique and no one had a name like it, though, everyone elses names were really phsyco. lol.

But I do have a friend who's thinking of changing her name to Bella, because her real name means baliff, and people judged her by her size or something.

You represent... apathy. You don't really show any emotion. You can be considered cruel and cold, but you just don't really care about anything. This is just the way you are... you're quite a challenge to get close to, and others may perceive you as boring.
Zeus was the Greek excuse for having no logical explination for lightning. Hades was for the death that baffled them. Posiedon tore apart at their shores. So Athena must have explained the people who didn't believe in the gods.

I'm happy enough with it. I've had problems with it before, but all in all it's a good name. It's better than what my father wanted to name me, so I lucked out in the end.

No, I didn't like it at all. There was a girl with the same name as I, and everyone felt the need to add my last name when addressing me (teachers especially whenever we were in the same class), though no one did that to her, other than simply adding her last initial.

But now, I do like my name more. I don't like how it's somewhat common/popular, but it's not that bad of a name.

I like my name, because pretty much everyone who has it goes by a nickname and I don't, but there's irony in my name too. My name means "blessed, pure and holy." But I'm an atheist-leaning agnostic.

How can I be sure I'm here? The pills that I've been taking confuse me, I need to know that someone sees that there's nothing left, I simply am not here...-Porcupine Tree, "Fear of a Blank Planet"

Nah, I don't like my first name much so sometimes I go by my middle name or a nickname.

Yeah, my name means Little Red Irish King. XDDDDDD I'm a horrible leader, and I'm not very little, the rest is understandable.
And yes, I use my middle name when I right stories about myself, never have I used my actual name.

I had similar problems sometimes. It was as often, but there was another kid at my school that had the same first AND last name as me. I lost count of the number of times I was called to the office and had to go back to class because they wanted the other kid.
