Today's image is "Orakio and Laya." This is a recent scan from my copy of the Phantasy Star Compendium book. It is the art that was used as a basis for one of the opening cutscenes of Phantasy Star III and our newest puzzle. This image is kind of large, so a thumbnail is shown below - click it for the full size.

Wow, that's a really detailed piece of art! I never knew the cutscene was based on an actual painting or whatever. It's fantastic! I wonder who the artist was.

That's a good question! It isn't credited in the book, as far as I know. It also doesn't look like Toyo Ozaki's work... I suppose we may never know.
I was going to make a wallpaper out of this image, but the scan I took turned out to be too small. I will have to rescan it and get a bigger image next time.
