Post subject: Extra Enemies in PSIII PostPosted: Sat Aug 16, '08, 1:45 am

I was reading on RPGClassics.com that when PSIII was released quite a few enemies never made it into the worldwide release version. But the enemies are still located in the rom they just don't show up kind of like the shadmirage in PSIV.

The unseen enemies are as follows:
Monsters: Imp, Shiek, Gryphon, Jumpliz, Skeleton, and Spectre
Cyborgs: Wirebot, Guardbot, Disker, Twistbot, Swivlbot, Rotabot, and Finis

If someone was good at rom hacking it is possible to get the images of the enemies. Well so I read :p

They got all their enemy screenshots from me and I got the enemy stats from them  I traded with the guy who initially setup that page years ago (back in 2000[!] maybe)

Wirebot I found later:

Same for Finis:

Twistbot, Swivlbot, Rotabot are in the GBA version. I've seen them but it was on an actual GBA so I didn't get a screenshot. Guess I have to play though it in an emulator.

The others are still missing.

The most interesting thing though is that there's a "Kara" boss in with the other boss data. Sounds like a plotline that was dropped late.

Wow you actually did all that for that page. I'm impressed :)
Just goes to show even after so many years all these game seem to still have hidden secrets to 'em.

Yeah, I took all pictures. It was too much effort to create animated versions though.

Now that I know where/how the enemy stats are stored in the rom I should really update my page with the missing information.

I remember seeing this boss sprite. Tsunami showed it to me many months ago. It kinda creeped me out the way she looks, but thats old genesis graphics for you. Is there anyway in future updates you'd be able to add her into the actual game as a fight?

It can be done in Aridia now, sort of. You can swap another boss, or any enemy I suppose, with the Kara sprite. The palette will be funky though (probably why the screen you saw looked odd). I haven't figured out how the color lookups work for enemies. It's probably not too difficult, it's just a matter of not trying yet.

Do you know if you'll ever be able to change / add script by using this program? And also be able to have weird parties? Or is this highly unlikely to happen?

It can already edit the script. Adding, as I recall, doesn't work due to size limitations on the available text space, but the entire script could be replaced.
